Peter (Pete) Smith

Hi! I'm Pete Smith and I am an Assistant (soon to be Associate) Professor of Chemistry at Westminster College in New Wilmington, PA. I have been at Westminster since the fall of 2002. I am the inorganic chemist on the faculty and my research interests are lanthanide chemistry and sustainability through using biomass as chemical feedstock.
Before arriving at Westminster, I was a Franklin Postdoctoral Teaching Fellow at the University of Georgia. Both of my degrees (B.S. and Ph.D.) are from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Go Vols!
If I weren't a chemist I'm pretty sure I would be a chef. I look to cook and I love to eat. This probably isn't surprising since the line between chemist and chef is a very, very fine one.
