Nitish Agrawal
Hi, My name is Nitish Agrawal. I previously worked at GE Global Research- NY and am currently working as Postdoctoral Research Fellow at University of Michigan- Medical School, Biological Chemistry Department, Ann Arbor, MI. I am originally from New Delhi, India and was born in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, in India. I received my B.Sc (Honors) degree in Chemistry in 1999 followed by M.Sc. (Chemistry), specialization in Organic Chemistry in 2001 from Hindu College, University of Delhi, India. I joined University of Iowa in Fall 2001,where my research focused on the mechanistic understanding of classical and newly-discovered thermotoga maritima flavin-dependent Thymidylate Synthase (TS) enzymes. The techniques of synthetic organic chemistry and molecular biology were used to manipulate substrates and enzymes, respectively. I have research experience in radioactive synthetic labeling, molecular biology and protein purification, structural biology, analytical/biochemical techniques, molecular modeling, enzyme assays and kinetics and various theoretical aspects of catalysis. I earned my Ph.D in Chemistry in July 2005.
My association with ACS began in second year at Iowa, when I became the regular member of ACS . I was selected to attend the Leadership Development Training workshop in October 2004. I am grateful to ACS for appointing me as YCC member for the year 2006-07. I am excited about this opportunity and am looking forward to working towards the cause and add value to the mission of ACS. I enjoy traveling, reading books on science, management, leadership and doing volunteer work.
