American Chemical Society of Western Michigan

 

The American Chemical Society (ACS) is a professional membership organization serving over 163,000 chemical professionals in industry, academics and government. Founded in 1876 the ACS is divided into more than 180 local sections in the United States and Puerto Rico.

The Western Michigan Local Section serves approximately 400 ACS members in Kent, Lake, Mason, Mecosta, Montcalm, Muskegon, Newaygo, Oceana, Osceola and Ottawa counties.

 

Local Section Mission Statement

1. Encourage and advance chemistry in all its branches and promote of the welfare of chemists;
2. Promote scientific interests and inquiry thorough its meetings, reports, papers, discussions and publications;
3. Provide programs and activities to improve the public's recognition and appreciation of the contributions of chemistry; and
4. Encourage activities and programs applying scientific principles to environmental issues.
