Amber S. Hinkle
Dr. Amber S. Hinkle is the Project Coordinator (manager) for the Plastics Quality Laboratory of Bayer Corporation at its Baytown, TX chemical manufacturing site. She began her career with a B.S. degree in chemistry from the University of Utah. She worked at the Idaho National Engineering Laboratory for 2.5 years performing environmental chemistry research for the Dept. of Energy and the Dept. of Defense. Subsequently she earned both an M.S. and a Ph.D. in organometallic chemistry at the University of Washington in Seattle. Following graduate school, Amber joined Bayer Corp. at its Consumer Care Products facility in Elkhart, IN where she spent 2 years overseeing the product stability program and developing robotic systems for automated testing of vitamins and alka seltzer products. In February 1997, she transferred to the Plastics Division of Bayer Corp. which brought her to Texas and her current responsibilities. The Plastics Quality Laboratory supports the manufacture of polycarbonate and bisphenol-A with in-process and finished goods testing, process trouble-shooting, and process improvement R&D. Amber is a member of the Women Chemists Committee for the National American Chemical Society and an advisory board member for Texas State Technical College in Marshall. Amber has been married since 1992 and currently lives with her husband, two dogs, one cat and a turtle.
