Dear Teachers, Students, and National Chemistry week enthusiasts:

Let us first thank the teachers and students for your participation in this year's NCW "Imaginary Molecules". It has been a great success!!

The photos of our entries will be posted in our website http://membership.acs.org/o/orlando/ shortly.

We received 12 molecules, each one of which deserved to be the winner. However, we all knew that we had to pick the top three winners. The molecules went on display at Florida Solar Energy Center and a panel of 5 judges picked their favorites based on Creativity (50 points), Bonding (30 points), and IUPAC name (20 points). So are you ready for the results?!!! Here they are:

First Place winner: "Mr. Crustac-ene" from Seminole High School Second Place winner: "Giraffenium" from Mainland High School Third Place winner: "Pandomonium" from Edgewood High School.  Click Here to see all 12 entries.

In addition to trophies for our 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winner, the teachers will receive chemistry kits from Flinn Scientific, Inc. and each student will receive a $10.00 gift certificate.

We are already looking forward to our next year contest. So keep your imagination going and we hope that you will be part of it again!

Last but not least, I would like to thank all of our volunteers for making this year NCW a success.

Best Regards,

Nahid Mohajeri
