2007 Fall Social - Chico Hot Springs - Oct 20/21

The annual Fall Social of the Montana ACS is rapidly approaching.  Each fall, the Montana Section of the American Chemical Society hosts a Fall Social, which affords the members of our geographically widespread section the opportunity to get together and catch up with what we have been up to. It will take place at Chico Hot Springs in the beautiful Paradise Valley (Pray, Montana) on October 20th and 21st.

Registration

The total cost to attend the social is $25.  The registration fee covers:

• meeting attendance
• Saturday afternoon drinks and appetizers
• Saturday evening meal at the elegant Chico dining room
• Sunday morning brunch in the Chico dining room

Lodging

Lodging must be arranged and paid for by the meeting attendees.  Montana ACS has reserved a block of 15 rooms for Saturday night, so when you call to make your reservation, please indicate that you are taking one of the Montana ACS rooms.  You must reserve your room by Monday, September 24th.  After that date, the Montana ACS rooms will be released to the general public.  To reserve your rooms, call Chico at 406-333-4933.  Reserved rooms range in price from $65 - $90.  Chico is completely booked for Friday night, so make your reservations early.  Meeting attendees will be encouraged to room together if lodging is tight.

Food

All food is free with registration (see above). For Saturday we will have a buffet dinner in the Knowles room and of course the famous Chico Breakfast buffet Sunday Morning.  You will be on your own for lunch on Sunday.

Undergraduate Posters

For several years, Montana ACS has made a special effort to encourage student participation in local section events.  At the Fall Social, we are encouraging undergraduate students who have participated in research projects to attend and present a poster on their research.  Undergraduates presenting posters will have their lodging paid for by ACS!  (Undergraduates will be strongly encouraged to sleep several to a room.)  Departments are encouraged to cover the registration costs for their students.

Fall Board Meeting of the Montana ACS

Montana ACS members are welcome to attend the fall business meeting on Sunday morning, although soaking in the hot springs might be more fun...  A rough agenda will be available in mid-October.  Please contact Earle Adams (earle.adams@umontana.edu) to add items to the agenda.
