2008 Fall Scientific Meeting Friday, October 24, 2008 11:00 a.m. Lunch 11:30 a.m. Registration Begins 12:00–5:00 p.m. Awards and Meeting 5:15 p.m. Social 7:00 p.m. Speakers Banquet The theme for this year's Fall Scientific Meeting is "Materials for the 21st Century." The chair responsibilities for the meeting are shared by Mike Owen, a scientist formerly at Dow Corning Corporation, Petar Dvornic, a scientist at Michigan Molecular Institute, and Mustafa Mohamed, a scientist at Dow Corning Corporation. Location for the meeting is the Midland Center for the Arts. Please preregister. The online meeting program will be ready Sept. 30. Please see links at the bottom of this page for program information currently available. A lunch will be provided to those preregistered who have indicated they will attend lunch. Major Midland Section awards will be presented after lunch, including awards honoring members who have been ACS for 50 years or more. Professor Manoj K. Chaudhury, Lehigh University, will present the keynote address. A poster session will provide participants with an overview of research being conducted not only by Midland Section industry and academia, but other institutions as well. There will also be a vendor exposition throughout the afternoon. The poster session will be followed by three symposia running simultaneously that will reflect the theme of the meeting. After the meeting, a social hour will be offered to meeting attendees at Oscar's Restaurant in Midland. Later in the evening, a speakers banquet will be held at D'Allesandro Villa in Midland.
