Coming Soon – ACS Strategic Plan for 2008 and Beyond

In December, the Board of Directors approved a new strategic plan for 2008 and beyond for the American Chemical Society. It provides a blueprint for how we can work together to advance our Vision of “Improving people’s lives through the transforming power of chemistry.” The centerpiece of the new strategic plan is the selection of six strategic goals for change:

• Providing indispensable resources,
• Engaging global community,
• Affecting world challenges,
• Communicating chemistry,
• Advocating for the profession, and
• Maintaining financial health.

Each goal will be accompanied by explanatory text and specific strategies. The public release of the plan represents the culmination of an extensive open and deliberative process and the launch of an extremely exciting path towards creating the ACS of the future. The plan will be appear at the end of January on the Web. Look for it at www.acs.org/strategicplan.
