A DVD entitled, ACS Close to Home: Local Sections Connecting Chemistry and the Community” is available in streaming and downloadable formats. It captures the many positive things that local sections do to promote chemistry in their communities and serves as a promotional tool to raise awareness, engage potential volunteers, and encourage future industrial partners/sponsors. It can be shown at a local section meeting, especially for new members, or local events with high school teachers and Student Affiliates chapters to actively reach out to the next generation. More>>

Technical Divisions-Volunteer Opportunities
At times it can seem like a no-win situation. The job that you are pursuing requires management, leadership experience, and the ability to work with people, yet you cannot get that experience without the job you’re presently pursuing. One of the best ways of getting this experience, as well as the experience of organizing a meeting in your field of interest while interacting with your peers, is through volunteer opportunities within your technical division. Alliances
Alliances with Alpha Chi Sigma Chapters
ACS local sections can and do form external alliances with a huge range of other scientific and social organizations for single events and for large parts of their programs. A partnership with a group from the Professional Fraternity Association (PFA) may provide another avenue. Alpha Chi Sigma, a member of the PFA, is a professional chemistry fraternity dedicated to the advancement of chemistry both as a science and as a profession. More>>

The Santa Clara Valley and California Local Sections and the AIChE NorCal Section developed a series of student interview workshops, funded by ACS Innovative Project Grants and AIChE.
