Chair's Message

Highlights from the Fall 2005 National Meeting
Whoa, my first year as Chair of the Committee on Local Section Activities (LSAC) is almost over. It has been a whirlwind year for the committee— full of activities and ideas. I have had the pleasure of meeting many new and exciting volunteers in the leadership of local sections throughout the year at national meetings, leadership conferences, and other venues. Thank you all for your dedication and commitment to the local sections. More>>

Tools and Tips for Success
Catch Your Members with a Beautiful WEB!
A webpage can be a powerful tool for communication. Websites should be clear, concise and user-friendly. Current webpage designers recommend the "one-click" method for finding information. The use of menus makes this easy. One doesn't need to be a web god or goddess to have an effective, beautiful local section website.   More>>

Since that time, local sections, regional meetings, and many of the ACS divisions have collaborated with AIChE and other professional organizations to enhance programming at meetings and to foster multi-disciplinarity in the chemical sciences. ACS Responds to Hurricane Victims
At the request of the ACS Council, the Society is exploring ways in which to meet the needs of our members, families, students, and institutions affected by both Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Included in this effort, a Hurricane Relief Task Force has been established to address longer term needs; and for the short term, blogs have been created to connect members within and outside the regions, and to collect hurricane-related observations gathered by themselves, their families, and their friends. For more details, please refer to C&EN , September 26, 2005 , Message from the ACS President, p.3.
