CollectiveX Pilot Test

The Membership and Scientific Advancement Division is currently conducting a pilot program of the online collaboration tool called CollectiveX, from a web-based company of the same name out of Columbia, MD.

The CollectiveX tool is intuitive and allows member volunteers to conduct ACS business from a central space, which includes a calendar, a document repository, and a discussion forum. If you are a member of multiple groups, it allows you to view each group separately or merge your view of all your groups easily.

CollectiveX has been pilot-tested by several ACS groups, including the Committee on Local Section Activities (LSAC). LSAC has used CollectiveX to generate discussions between meetings, store committee documents, and facilitate the review of Innovative Project Grants. The pilot program has entered its second phase and has been expanded to include the executive committees of local sections. The pilot program will go through April 2008, when it will be assessed on the basis of user feedback and usage statistics. It will then be decided whether to continue with CollectiveX or to use a similar collaboration and community-building tool.

If your Local Section Executive Committee is interested in participating in the pilot test or would like to find out more about group networking and collaboration tools, please e-mail Dennis Loney.
