| ACS Leadership Conference Planned for Baltimore in January The ACS award-winning Leadership Conferences have been continually improving for more than 40 years, and this coming year will be no exception. Planned for January 27–29 at the Baltimore Marriott Waterfront Hotel for the second consecutive year, the conference will offer opportunities to hear stimulating presentations as well as participate in a variety of engaging, interactive learning activities. Networking, good food, and access to the hotel's various amenities will complement the planned learning events. All chairs-elect (and other local section leaders, if possible) should plan to attend the 2006 Leadership Conference. Participants will learn to work more efficiently and effectively as they conduct their local section's business during their year of leadership. By honing management skills of planning, organizing, delegating, delivering, and evaluating programs, products, and services, section leaders will add value to their local section member's participation while, at the same time, contributing to the overall success of ACS and their own professional and personal development. The Local Section Officers track will include training on how local sections fit into the big picture of ACS; management tools and resources such as the monthly planner, local section bylaws, demographic data, and the new eRosters; preparing annual reports; utilizing the Speaker Service; conducting community outreach; planning lively and productive meetings; and leader succession planning. The weekend is certain to inspire and prepare you for service! Plan now to attend! Check the Office of Local Section Activities Website for updated information and to register online.
