1st Place: Portland Local Section, accepted by Angela Hoffman
Tour Speaker Warren Bush: “Three things I recall especially favorably: the warm personal welcome I received from every one whom I met; the fine instructions I received for driving to the meeting venue; and the preparation of a separate, ‘non-scientific’ tour for Dolly. Thank you from both Dolly and me to the Portland Section.”

Created in 2000, the Speaker Service Hospitality Award recognizes local sections that exceed the call of duty when hosting an ACS tour speaker. Tour speakers are asked to provide a letter of recommendation to the ACS Office of Local Section Activities highlighting the reasons why the local section is deserving of this award. Nominations are judged by a committee of tour speakers on how the local section prepared for the speaker visit, including, but not limited to, publicity efforts, local arrangements, communication with the speaker, success of the meeting, and follow-up. Hospitality Award nominations are due February 1 of each calendar year.
