    With the heat of summer being upon us, our thoughts typically turn to barbecues and summer vacations rather than local section activities. This is also true for the thousands of ACS members that we serve. However, summer is a great time to communicate with members before the rush of activities gets underway in the fall. More>>
    Local Section Hosts Town Hall Meeting
    The ACS Office of Legislative and Government Affairs and local sections, through local section government affairs committees, partner to develop relationships with policymakers locally and in Washington, DC. Local section government affairs committees can arrange multiple types of programs to develop these types of relationships. Town hall meetings are an especially effective type of program. More>>

    Almost all local sections face the same issues—recruiting new leaders, geographical issues, member involvement, and so on. It doesn’t matter if you are from a small or a very large section, you are not alone, and there is help out there. More>>

    Teleconference Held on Electronic Elections for Local Sections & Divisions
    On May 28, a joint teleconference was hosted by the ACS Committee on Local Section Activities (LSAC) and the Committee on Divisional Activities (DAC) on Best Practices for Electronic Elections in Local Sections and Divisions. Protocols for conducting elections in divisions and local sections, and the process of changing local section/division bylaws to allow electronic balloting were discussed as well as successful best practices. A complete text transcript and an audio transcript, available in download and streaming format, are now available on the website.
