Important message

Message from our Chair

Dear Members,

The March meeting with Dr. Robert Blackledge was well attended, and a special thanks to the students from Bethel College who made use of their spring break to hear this fascinating talk. Dr. Blackledge’s discussion of the forensic value of glitter was thorough, colorful and interesting as was his stories about the television series stars of NCIS.

The joint spring Area Collegiate Chemistry Meeting hosted by the Student Affiliates of Murray State University and the University of Tennessee at Martin is always exciting as new research ideas are presented by our area students. Our April local section meeting will be held at this event as this is a great opportunity for the exchange of ideas and formation of collaborations with our local section affiliates.  As is tradition, the 2009 ACS President elect, Dr. Joseph S. Francisco will be the keynote speaker at this gathering.

In addition, the Women in Chemistry Career Symposium will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2009. Keep this date open and check the ACS-KLS website for up to the minute program information.

I hope to see you at the Area Collegiate Chemistry Meeting and the Career Symposium. And, most importantly, don’t forget to bring a friend!

 Regards,

 Edie Banner
