The annual ACS Connecticut Valley Section Undergraduate Symposium and Awards Luncheon will be held on April 26, 2008 at Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts.
The Symposium will begin at 9:00 AM with a keynote address by Cathy Drennan from MIT which will be followed by several sessions of student talks. From 12:30-2:00 we will have a combined student poster session, lunch, and awards ceremony.
The Symposium highlights student accomplishments via talks (20 minutes including questions) and posters (4’ X 3’), and we encourage students at all levels (first-years through seniors) to participate. They will gain valuable experience in a professional setting, and the best talk by a female student will be recognized by the Anna J. Harrison Award ($1,000). Participants and attendees must register for the Symposium. Additional information and registration forms are available at the symposium website . The deadline for submission is Friday, April 11.
Award-winning high school chemistry students, their parents, and teachers will join us for the poster session, luncheon, and awards ceremony. This will provide the poster presenters with an excellent opportunity to explain their research projects and share their enthusiasm for chemistry. We will also recognize an outstanding graduating senior chemistry, biochemistry, or chemical engineering major from each college/university with our Student Award from the ACS CVS. Jane Knox, will contact schools shortly with award details and nomination forms. Student presenters, award winners, and their faculty mentors can attend the luncheon as guests of the CVS; others are welcome to attend for $15 per person.
We look forward to seeing you at Smith on April 26th.
