John Stock to Receive Donor
Appreciation Award from Chemical Heritage Foundation
John
T. Stock, professor emeritus at UConn, will receive CHF’s first Donor
Appreciation Award this year. Holder of
two doctorates (analytical chemistry and science), he came to UConn in 1956,
and after many outstanding years of teaching analytical chemistry, retired in
1979 from teaching. He remains an
active scholar in the history of chemistry, both in Connecticut and at the
London Science Museum, where he is an honorary fellow. In the last 25 years he has published three
books and about 70 articles and made 40 oral presentations at national ACS
meetings, all on the history of chemistry.
In 1992 he received the ACS Dexter Award for Outstanding Contributions
to the History of Chemistry. Through
his long, distinguished career, he has published more than 300 papers and
several books and monographs on various scientific topics.
