| In recent years AFM has provided numerous important insights about the gross nanostructure of ß-amyloid (Aß) aggregates and about the processes leading to their formation. This presentation will review our past work in this area, in particular in situ studies of Aß aggregation in contact with different surfaces, and present studies, which are focused on the interaction of Aß with apoE and apoJ containing lipoproteins and antibodies specific to different portions of the peptide. Recent developments in the methodology, including quantitative analysis of AFM images and in situ operation under minimally perturbing conditions utilizing active Q control will be also discussed. |
