| The sequential adsorption of oppositely charged polyelectrolytes onto solid surfaces has become an important tool in nano-engineering. We have used ATR-FTIR spectroscopy to study the adsorption of polyelectrolytes from solutions onto silicon and ZnSe surfaces. We have characterized the deposition uniformity and measured the adsorbed mass per layer for PSS-PDMAC and PSS-PAH multilayer systems. We have also begun to explore the moblilty of water molecules within multilayer films via H2O/D2O exchange experiments. |
