The Tillmanns-Skolnick Award was established in 1984 to recognize and honor outstanding, long-term service to the Division of Chemical Health and Safety. Originally named the Distinguished Service Award, it was renamed the Tillmanns-Skolnick Award in in 1986 to honor Emma Jean Tillmanns-Skolnick. Nominees must have been an active member of the division for at least five years and have shown, though personal effort, outstanding support for the realization of CHAS's goals in Chemical Health and Safety. The award consists of a commemorative plaque and a $500 prize for expenses so that the recipient can be present at an award symposium at the fall ACS national meeting. The College and University Health and Safety Award is given to recognize the most comprehensive laboratory safety program in higher education (undergraduate study only). The College and University award award consists of a commemorative plaque and a $500 prize for expenses so that the recipient can be present at an award symposium at the fall ACS national meeting. Nominations are also solicited for special service and fellow awards:

Service Awards are given to the immediate past division Chair, Secretary and Treasurer at the end of their terms. The chair receives an ACS past chair's pin and all officers receive plaques.

Fellows Awards recognize CHAS members in good standing who have provided continuous service. Nominees who meet the criteria will receive a certificate and a rosette. See the roster of current Fellows here .

Special Awards are occasionally given to recognize exceptional services rendered to CHAS. Nominees who meet the criteria will receive an appropriate plaque or certificate of appreciation. At this time, these Life-time achievment awards have been presented to Jay Young, Warren Kingsley and Eileen Segal.
