2004 Central Regional HS Chemistry Teacher's Award
Honoring High School Chemistry Teachers
The American Chemical Society invites nominations for the 2004 Central Regional HS Chemistry Teacher's Award -- $1000 honorarium and a plaque to be presented at the Awards Ceremony Dinner. Recipient will also be the region's selection for the James Bryant Conant award.
The nomination process is simple. Please send a packet consisting of a biographical sketch, resume, and nomination statement of no more than 1000 words to the address below by March 30, 2003.

This year's award winner, Dr. Jesse Bernstein of the Cleveland Section has been teaching at the Hawken School for 30 years. He is being honored for contributions to education in the central region that include: service as the Chair of the High School Affairs Committee of the Cleveland Section, where he was responsible for organizing and presenting workshops to improve the quality of education in the Cleveland area, the development of a wide range of Inquiry Lab experiments, and serving as a mentor for the National Chemistry Olympiad (including the team that brought home gold in 1999!) and NCW coordinator. Over his thirty year career in education, Dr. Bernstien has instructed ~1800 students, many of whom went on to career in chemistry, biochemistry, and other related medical fields. Dr. Bernstein is also extremely active in local chemical volunteer pursuits.
