Opportunity for Pre-Tenure Chemistry Faculty

June 22, 2009

The ACS International Research Experiences for Undergraduates program (ACS-IREU) will award 10 travel grants to pre-tenure chemistry faculty to participate in the 238th ACS National Meeting, 15-19 August, 2009. These awards are possible through a grant to ACS from the National Science Foundation. Nominally supported by the ACS International Activities Committee (IAC), the aim is to encourage young faculty to achieve excellence in research, succeed at writing research proposals, engage in broadening participation, establish fruitful international collaborations and effectively mentor the next generation of domestic and international chemistry students. Members of underrepresented minority groups, including women and persons with disabilities, are strongly encouraged to apply.

To learn more about the awards and how to apply go to http://portal.acs.org/portal/PublicWebSite/meetings/fall2009/CNBP_022305. The deadline is July 7.

You may send your questions directly to INTLACTS@acs.org.

Sincerely,

Lourdes E. Echegoyen, Ph. D.

The Chemical Society of Washington, in preparation for the 238th American Chemical Society National Meeting, will be utilizing two social networking sites, Twitter and Facebook, to welcome and help attendees during this convention. We have prepared A Brief Guide to Understanding Social Networking to help those unfamiliar with these applications. If you have ever done quantum mechanics, you can do social networking!
