Are you a recent graduate unsure about your future? Are you thinking about a career transition? Do you need to represent yourself with a resume that is updated? eye-catching? web-ready? Do you want inside information on how to land the right job for you? If you have answered yes to any of these questions, mark Saturday, February 23rd on your calendar now! WNY ACS and the UB Graduate Chemistry Club and Graduate Student Association are pleased to announce their annual Career Counseling Workshop, a program designed to give you up-to-date information on how to maximize the success of your employment search. In the morning session, ACS Career consultant Dr. Ray O’Donnell will be presenting techniques and tips on how to approach the job market, build a resume that best highlights your skills and experiences, and interview with confidence. In the afternoon session, a panel of past and current corporate representatives will discuss how employers hire chemical professionals and give current perspectives on the chemical industry and academia. One-on-one resume reviews will also be available in the afternoon on a first come first serve basis. If you are interested in new employment, whether a first job or a career change, this is a workshop you will not want to miss! UB is easy to find coming from 290 and 990 if you watch for signs for the State University of New York. The Natural Sciences Complex is located at the end of the Rensch Loop, a left turn from the Audubon after exiting 990. Parking is available in the Loop or to the right of the Loop (Cooke A and B lots).

Our January meeting was a great success. We all enjoyed our British colleague's sense of humor and the pins he handed out at the end with the British and American flags. Tim Milner gave a detailed overview of the nuclear fuel processing cycle, from manufacture of the fuel rods to recycling (in the
U.K.) or disposal (in the U.S.). Numerous examples of various facilities in both countries were examined.
Let's all welcome our new officers for the coming year! The first Executive Committee meeting of the new group will be held later in February. Ideas and suggestions from local section members are always welcomed.
Please keep in mind that we are always looking for candidates for the prestigious Schoellkopf award. If you know of someone who has contributed to the local section and Western New York in the chemistry profession, please consider nominating that person. Details on how to nominate a candidate will be provided in a later issue of the Double Bond.
We are determined to revitalize our local section, and with a little help and participation from each of you, we are sure to succeed! Thank you for your support.

As you recall, this new group of WNY-ACS members accepted the challenge of running the Section with the assumption that some of the senior members of the Section would lend support. Once again, we call on all section members to attend the monthly meetings and help where possible in the affairs of the section.
