Our first meeting of the ”New Year” will be a BRAINSTORMING SESSION. We need some new ideas and new blood in the organization. If you feel the same way then come to the October 9 planning meeting; let your voice be heard. We have a ton of things to get done, such as:

Nonminations for Elections

Nonminees for upcoming meetings

How to reinvent the local section

What does the 21st century hold for us; “Let’s Decide”

EDITORIAL

Welcome to ALL members of the Western New York Section of the American Chemical Society! I am writing to all of you this month in an effort to reach each of you, whether you have access to the Internet and/or E-Mail or only receive "snail mail".

In 1998 the local section made some changes in its publication, making it available on our website, via E-Mail subscription, or US Postal "snail" mail paper copy. At that time there was some confusion regarding the choices available, and it seems that we may have lost touch with some of our members.

Although the National ACS supplied us with a database of WNY section members, it has until recently been in a format that was incompatible with our system. Now that the two systems are merged we would like to begin a new way of communicating with our members.

Please fill out the form on the back cover and mail it to the address indicated, showing your preference(s) for receiving The Double Bond. Alternatively, you may E-Mail your preferences to

shelleyp@canisius.edu.

Thanks to everyone for your continued support. Let's make the 2001-2002 season our best yet!
