SERMACS 2007

SERMACS 2007 Logo Contest

Contest Rules

The Organizing Committee of the 2007 meeting of the Southeast Region of the American Chemical Society (SERMACS) would like you to design the perfect logo for the meeting. The 2007 meeting will be held in Greenville for the first time since 1996 and we are looking for a logo that will help us to convey the excitement of Greenville and the Western Carolinas section of the ACS. Entries will be accepted until October 7th, 2005, with the winning submission to be announced in late October. The final design will be featured on advertising materials beginning with the 2005 SERMACS meeting in Memphis, November 1-4.

The logo contest is open to graduate or undergraduate students enrolled in any of the Colleges and Universities in the Western Carolinas region. The person or team creating the winning entry will receive a prize of an Apple iPod Nano (4GB model) or cash equivalent of $250. In addition, $100 will be donated to the winners ACS student affiliate chapter or chemistry club. (In the case of a winning entry by a non-chemistry student, another appropriate organization may receive the award instead).

The theme of the 2007 meeting is the "chemistry of transportation", highlighting the regions rapidly growing involvement in the automotive and related industries. The successful submission will convey visual impact when printed either in color or in black and white. Submissions will be accepted in almost any form but the preferred format would be electronic files that are finished, scaleable and "camera-ready". Ultimately, they will be used in Adobe PageMaker or similar program for print and electronic publication.

Logos may include graphical elements, text and photographs. Please keep in mind the logo will become an integral part of SERMACS 2007 stationary, program materials, marketing and promotions. Submissions using photographs should be mindful of these uses and their potential for production and economic impacts when employed in these uses.

There is no limit to the number of entries that may be submitted.

All submissions become the sole property of SERMACS 2007 and the Organizing Committee will be solely responsible for selecting the winning submission. Submissions may be used as-is and/or altered by the Organizing Committee to satisfy the requirements of SERMACS 2007. SERMACS 2007 will retain all copyright and trademark rights to all submissions.
