You can’t visit Augusta without playing golf! Sign up to play a round at the River Golf Club in our “Best Ball / Captain’s Choice” Tournament. Prizes will be awarded for the winning team and several other categories. The golf course is conveniently located across the river from the Augusta Marriott Hotel & Suites (directions will be provided to tournament players). The tournament will start at 10am. Number of teams will be based on tournament signup.

| Soirée on the Historic Augusta Canal |

Thursday evening’s Soirée on the Historic Augusta Canal will be a unique opportunity for attendees of SERMACS 2006. Guests at this reception will be swept back into the 1800’s during a half-hour Petersburg Boat ride on the Augusta Canal. Float past more than 200 years of history and watch for wildlife as the boat guide shares Augusta Canal lore and legend. History comes alive in a self-guided walking tour of the Augusta Canal Interpretive Center, featuring movies, models, and authentic mill machinery. Guests can observe working looms, both hydro-powered and manually operated, as well as get a close-up view of vintage power generation turbines that provide power for the Center. Local area musicians will provide the background music to complete the evening’s ambiance.
The dinner buffet will include Augusta-style barbeque, complete with all of the fixings; drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) will also be available. Bus transportation will be provided for the 1-mile trip between the Augusta Canal Interpretive Center and the Hotel/Conference Area. The Soirée will start at 5:30 pm, with the first Boat Tour leaving by 6 pm. Busses will run continuously between the Interpretive Center and the Hotel from 5 pm until 9:30 pm (bus departure locations will be provided in your conference check-in materials). The Petersburg Boats will also operate continuously during the Soirée to allow all interested guests the unique opportunity to tour the Augusta Canal.
Ticket price includes entrance to the Augusta Canal Interpretive Center, Petersburg Boat Tour, barbecue dinner, two drinks (beer, wine, or soft drinks), and transportation. A cash bar will also be available.

The Forum will start 2:30pm in the Augusta Marriott Hotel & Suites Estes B room, followed by the Reception at 5:30 pm, in Estes A. The Forum will include various presentations from our participating societies and groups: ACS-CMA, ACS-CWD, ACS-WCC, ACS-YCC, NOBCChE, NOGLSTP, NSBE, SACNAS, SHPE, and SWE. We will also play the Global Diversity Game which is guaranteed to promote discussion and be fun at the same time. Appetizers and beverages provided. The Forum and Reception are open to all conference attendees. Please contact the Special Events Chair for participation in this event.
