Get Involved with ACS through Regional Meetings

Have you been able to find a balance between life at work and life outside of work? Have you gotten caught up in all the business and lost track of what is important? How are your professional development activities? Are you able to take advantage of all the benefits that professional societies like the American Chemical Society (ACS) offer? As younger chemists and emerging professionals, we have the opportunity to shape the future. As experienced chemists and chemical engineers, we have the opportunity to share our experiences, lead by example and give back something to our community.

You may be wondering how you can get involved with the ACS beyond the just being a participant and attending events? Consider taking an active role in one of the regional meetings. Getting involved with the ACS through the regional meetings offers a low-risk opportunity to learn what the ACS is all about and participate in professional development activities. So how do you get involved with the regional meetings? VOLUNTEER!

The Great Lakes Regional Meeting will be held in Peoria on October 2004. Steve Cermak is the General Chair (he picks up the bar tab). Jim Kenar and Vicki Finkenstadt are serving as the Program Co-Chairs. GLRM04 plans to have workshops for teachers, a high school and undergraduate program, Kids & Chemistry programs, keynote speakers, and a technical program that reflects our region. See our website for current information.

We need YOU to make the GLRM a success!
