The Division of Polymeric Materials: Science and Engineering acknowledges the contributions from our industrial supporters on behalf of the Polymer Education Committee, POLYED. POLYED is a consortium of groups interested in science education, in general, and polymer education in particular.
The major purpose of POLYED is the nurturing of education at all levels from kindergarten through post graduate, including professionals seeking continuing education. Some of the numerous POLYED programs include education symposia, teacher training, the industrial teachers program, media and short course cataloguing, polymer demonstration kits, summer employment programs and awards for a variety of functions, including polymer curriculum development, undergraduate travel, organic chemistry, excellence in polymer education by a high school teacher and the ICI Student Award. The Polymer Education Newsletter (PEN) is mailed to all departments of chemistry and chemical engineering in the United States and Canada to keep them abreast of these activities.
