AN INVITATION TO JOIN THE DIVISION OF
POLYMERIC MATERIALS: SCIENCE & ENGINEERING
PMSE was founded in 1924 as the Paint and Varnish Division, and until 1983 was known as the Division of Organic Coatings and Plastics Chemistry. Over the years, the interests of the Division's members have come to include adhesives, biomedical polymers, composites, polymers for electronic applications, plastics, and many other areas of applied polymer science and technology in addition to traditional coatings-related topics.
The principal objective of the Division is to promote interest in, and the understanding of, applied polymer science. This is achieved through regular meetings, publications, professional contacts, and discussions. Since its founding, the Division has regularly participated in American Chemical Society National Meetings. The Division frequently co-sponsors symposia with other ACS Divisions and is an active participant in the Macromolecular, Biotechnology, Catalysis & Surface Science, and Materials Science Secretariats. PMSE also sponsors topical workshops in conjunction with its technical meetings to provide tutorial reviews of technologically significant fields. Program planning and operations are carried out by member volunteers. Your participation is encouraged and welcomed.
Proceedings in CD-ROM format of the Division's meeting preprints are sent to members shortly before the Spring and Fall National ACS Meetings. These CDs bring current technical information, as well as information regarding the Division (i.e. awards, Executive Committee roster, future PMSE symposia) to Division members. Division members also receive a semiannual newsletter and significant discounts on ACS Symposium Series books developed from PMSE symposia.
You are cordially invited to join the Division as a full or Affiliate Member. American Chemical Society members are entitled to full membership. ACS non-members and Student Affiliates may join as Affiliates. Affiliates receive the Proceedings and all other membership benefits, but may not vote or hold office in PMSE.
