PMSE Fellows Program

The Division of Polymeric Materials: Science and Engineering Division Executive Committee is pleased to announce the launch of the PMSE Fellows Program.


    • PURPOSE OF FELLOWS PROGRAM
      To honor a small percentage of PMSE members who have made significant contributions to the science and engineering of polymeric materials.

    • CANDIDATE ELIGIBILITY
      A PMSE Member in good standing for at least five (5) years.

    • SELECTION CRITERIA
      • Recognition for specific scientific or technological contributions to polymer materials science and engineering or applied polymer science, such as:
        • Development of a polymer characterization tool
        • Invention of a polymerization catalyst
        • Discovery of a fundamental concept or principle in polymer science or engineering
        • Leadership of, or substantial contribution to, the commercialization or manufacture of polymeric materials or processes
        • Advancement of the science or engineering of polymeric materials
        • (Co)inventorship of a key patent or (co)authorship of a key paper in polymeric materials science and engineering
      • Recognition of the overall advancement of the field of polymeric materials science and engineering, such as:
        • Establishment of, or strong contribution to, polymer education or public image initiatives
      • Recognition for service to the PMSE Division, while not a primary criterion, may be used as a secondary consideration

    • NOMINATION PROCESS
      • Candidates can be nominated by other PMSE members.
      • Nominations should be sent to the Chair of the Selection Committee (Prof. Douglas Wicks , please see contact information below.) by October 15 each year to be considered for induction at the next Spring ACS meeting.
      • The nomination packets shall consist of:
        • At least two (2) nomination letters by cognizant individuals
        • Supporting information (if available), e.g. key point resume, news clippings, testimonials by others (especially for proprietary work)

    2000 PMSE FELLOWS

    We are pleased to announce the first two classes of PMSE fellows. At the Washington ACS meeting in August, 2000 the following members were inducted as the inaugural class of PMSE Fellows:

    2001 PMSE FELLOWS

    The following eight distinguished PMSE members have been selected as the second class of PMSE Fellows in 2001:

    Krzysztof Matyjaszewski George R. Pilcher Duane B. Priddy Albert F. Yee

    They will be inducted at the PMSE Awards Lunch at the San Diego ACS Meeting on Monday, April 2, 2001. We are honored to add these distinguished names to our list of fellows, and they continue the high standard set by the first class last year.


    2002 PMSE FELLOWS

    The following division members have been chosen as PMSE Fellows in the nomination and selection process which was completed in November of 2001:

    They will be inducted as the third class of PMSE Fellows during the Awards Lunch at the Orlando ACS Meeting on Monday, April 8, 2002. PMSE is pleased to welcome this distinguished group of polymer scientists and engineers to the ranks of fellows.


    2003 PMSE FELLOWS

    The following division members have been chosen as PMSE Fellows in the nomination and selection process which was completed in November of 2002:

    They will be inducted as the fourth class of PMSE Fellows during the Awards Lunch at the New Orleans ACS Meeting on Monday, March 24th, 2003. PMSE is pleased to welcome this distinguished group of polymer scientists and engineers to the ranks of fellows.


    2004 PMSE FELLOWS

    The American Chemical Society Division of Polymeric Materials: Science and Engineering (PMSE) has just completed its process to select a new class of Fellows for 2004, and the following people have been chosen:

    Nikos Hadjichristidis Bill MacKnight Don Schulz

    They will be inducted as the fifth class of PMSE Fellows during the Awards Lunch at the Anaheim ACS Meeting on Monday, March 29th, 2004. PMSE is pleased to welcome this distinguished group of polymer scientists and engineers to the ranks of fellows.


    2005 PMSE FELLOWS

    The American Chemical Society Division of Polymeric Materials: Science and Engineering (PMSE) has just completed its process to select a new class of Fellows for 2005, and the following people have been chosen:

    Eric Amis David Lohse

    They will be inducted as the sixth class of PMSE Fellows during the Awards Lunch at the San Diego ACS Meeting on Monday, March 14th, 2005. PMSE is pleased to welcome this distinguished group of polymer scientists and engineers to the ranks of fellows.


    2006 PMSE FELLOWS

    The American Chemical Society Division of Polymeric Materials: Science and Engineering (PMSE) has just completed its process to select a new class of Fellows for 2006, and the following people have been chosen:

    Richard Stein Anne Hiltner Robert Weiss Robert Miller Donald Plazek

    They will be inducted as the seventh class of PMSE Fellows during the Awards Lunch at the Atlanta ACS National Meeting on Monday, March 27th, 2006. PMSE is pleased to welcome this distinguished group of polymer scientists and engineers to the ranks of fellows.


    2007 PMSE FELLOWS

    The American Chemical Society Division of Polymeric Materials: Science and Engineering (PMSE) has just completed its process to select a new class of Fellows for 2007, and the following people have been chosen:

    They will be inducted as the eighth class of PMSE Fellows during the PMSE/POLY Awards Reception at the Chicago ACS National Meeting on Monday, March 26, 2007. PMSE is pleased to welcome this distinguished group of polymer scientists and engineers to the ranks of fellows.
