Symposium features research, development, and planning on the petrochemicals from unconventional sources. Topics include, but are not limited to:

• Petrochemicals from biomass, oil sands, oil shale, or coal
• Upgrading strategies to make petrochemicals
• BTX from oil shale, oil sands, or coal
• Ring opening catalysis
• Syngas to chemicals
• Feedstock preparation or pretreatment
• Hydroprocessing (Hydrocracking/Hydrotreating/Hydrogenation)
• Processing to remove nitrogen, sulfur or oxygen (HDS, HDN, etc.)
• Catalyst Deactivation
• Review papers
