REPORT ON CHEMISTRY OLYMPIAD
On March 17th Students and teachers from high schools in the IL-IA section converged on the Science Building at Augustana College, Rock Island, IL. Refreshments and greetings by the Section President, Rick Rogers started the day. Soon the students were off to their various rooms to take the exam. Meanwhile teachers could visit and exchange information.
Upon completion of the exam, students and teachers were treated to a demonstration outside the building. Finally everyone met in the large lecture hall for further demonstrations. The making of strawberry ice cream in "no time at all" using liquid nitrogen was a big hit to watch and to enjoy eating.
Rick Rogers then announced the winners, who are as follows:

NATIONAL CHEMISTRY WEEK
National chemistry Week will be held 21-27 October 2007. The theme this year is "The Many Faces of Chemistry". More information will be posted as this date gets closer. www.chemistry.org/ncw has some information now. The patch for this year looks like this!
