SEPTEMBER SECTION MEETING
Monday, September 8, 2008
Location: Colorado College - Colorado Springs, CO
Room: Gaylord Hall, Worner Student Center
Speaker: Mary Virginia Orna, Ph.D.
Title: "Doing Chemistry at the Art/Archaeology Interface"
Dr. Orna did archaeological work in Israel involving analysis of
ancient pigments and dyes found on excavated materials from caves in
the Judean desert and the ancient fortress of Masada. Applications of
the methods of archaeological chemistry to famous artifacts such as
the Shroud of Turin will also be discussed.
5:00 pm: Social Hour
6:00 pm: Dinner
Meat: Roasted and brined whole chicken - cut and served in with an apricot glaze. Vegetarian: Quinoa Stuffed Portobello with chevre and fresh herbs.
Both come with: Garden salad with dressings, Roasted potato fingerlings, Chef's choice seasonal vegetable, Bread and butter; Cheesecake with Fruit compote.
7:00 pm: Presentation
Dinner:Price is $15.00 for members and their guests,
$5.00 for students & retired members.
You must make reservations for meals.
