March/April Meeting
On April 2 at 6:30 p.m., Clark University will host Prof. Juan Novoa of the Department de Química Física, Universitat de Barcelona. Prof. Novoa will be presenting The nature of the long distance bonds (≈3 Å) found in molecular crystals in room 121 in the Sackler Science Center. Parking is recommended in the Maywood Street Parking lot, next to the Lasry Biological Sciences Building across Maywood street from the Sackler Science building. A Call to Action
Please contact your U.S. Representative by March 14 regarding the importance of signing onto a letter to the House Appropriations Committee authored by Rep. Ruben Hinojosa (D-TX) that supports $5 million in funding for the Partnerships for Access to Laboratory Science (PALS) at the National Science Foundation.
This program was authorized by the America COMPETES Act in 2007 and needs to be funded through the fiscal year 2009 appropriations process.

Hogwarts at Holy Cross
CM-ACS is happy to be involved in Holy Cross's continuing series of chemistry outreach events. The theme for this year's Hogwarts at Holy Cross X is "Biochemistry: Your Body's Magical Spell Book". The event will feature hands-on activities for the whole family, and an exciting Health Show by Award-Winning Children's Educator Slim Goodbody. The event will be held in the Hogan Ballroom, at the College of the Holy Cross from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 1. Of course, the event is free and open to the public.

January 2008 Meeting
On January 24 at 7:00 p.m., CM-ACS will kick off 2008 with a seminar presented by Prof. Richard Herrick entitled Bioorganometallic Chemistry: A New Frontier. The event hosted by CM-ACS and MCPHS, will be held in the Fuller Conference Hall on the 9th floor of the MCPHS Living and Learning Center. The address of the Living and Learning Center is 25 Foster Street, Worcester, MA. 01608, the corner of Foster and Commercial Streets. Beverages and snacks will be served, and parking is available across Commercial Street in the CitySquare parking garage.

New Outreach Materials
CM-ACS recently purchased 24 junior and 24 senior sized "color dot goggles" from the American Chemical Society. The goggles can be used during CM-ACS outreach events. Please contact the National Chemistry Week Coordinator (Christopher Masi, cmasi at wsc.ma.edu) to coordinate an exchange.
