Annual Report Subcommittee
Divisional Status Subcommittee | Constitution & Bylaws Subcommittee
Divisional Enhancement Subcommittee

  • studying and making recommendations to the Council concerning SOCIETY policy affecting interests of Divisions;
  • assisting Divisions in coordinating their efforts with SOCIETY and Local Section activities;
  • performing the duties incident to the creation of new Divisions as prescribed elsewhere in these Bylaws and making recommendations to the Council for combination or dissolution of Divisions; (6-13-99)
  • promoting interdivisional cooperation and communication, both formal and informal;
  • cooperating with the Committee on Meetings and Expositions, SOCIETY bodies related to publications, and other committees in areas of mutual interest; (6-30-97)
  • acting for the Council, in collaboration with the Committee on Constitution and Bylaws, in approving the affiliation of Divisions with other Technical Organizations. (6-1-73)

Annual Report Subcommittee
The Annual Reports Subcommittee is responsible for reviewing all Division annual reports to determine the state of health for each division.

Divisional Status Subcommittee
The Divisional Status Subcommittee is responsible for the initial assessment of proposals to form a new division, to dissolve an existing division, or to merge two or more divisions. The Subcommittee periodically evaluates the written procedures-ACS Constitution, Bylaws, and Regulations as well as DAC procedures and guidelines-that govern these actions and suggests changes where necessary. The Subcommittee also monitors the Secretariats that exist for programming at national meetings and, at the request of the full Committee, may study other formal or informal interdivisional activities.

Divisional Enhancement Subcommittee
The Divisional Enhancement Subcommittee helps ACS Divisions meet their objectives, providing financial support as possible. This will include recognition of excellent divisional initiatives and funding of innovative divisional activities. In addition, the DES will evaluate and facilitate implementation of divisional recommendations (carried over from the "long term planning" subcommittee). [tentative]

Constitution and Bylaws Subcommittee
The Constitution and Bylaws Subcommittee keeps DAC apprised of petitions coming before the Committee on Constitution and Bylaws (C&B) and the Council, especially those that directly affect Divisions, and to present official DAC positions on C&B matters to that Committee.
