The Council Committee on Divisional Activities (DAC) has responsibility for oversight and coordination of activities of Divisions of the Society to ensure that the fields of interest, as they evolve, are served; to recommend to Council and the Board of Directors policies affecting the Divisions so as to enhance the total effectiveness of the Divisions and of the Society; and to promote positive interactions within the Division structure and with other units of the Society to fulfill the mission and goals of the Society.

Multidisciplinary Programming Planning Group (MPPG)
DAC has been pursuing an experiment in what we have called “Thematic Programming”in order for ACS divisions to more completely meet the information and professional development needs of multidisciplinary scientists – and increase the relevance of our divisions in the process.
In order to get this experiment rolling, the Divisional Activities Committee (DAC) has taken the lead, and its Meetings subcommittee has done much of the work to collect and select from ideas about future themes, select organizers, and coordinate and facilitate the work of those organizers. While DAC does its very best to represent the interests of divisions, it is not designed to be a body on which all divisions have representation.
DAC has felt that the process should transition to a body with broader representation, and as a result has designed an approach, in collaboration with representatives from M&E and ComSci, the result of which is the Multidisciplinary Programming Planning Group (MPPG). The MPPG orgizational proposal is available here. (link to file)
The MPPG met for the first time at the national meeting in Boston, and its first steeting committee meeting will be in November, in conjunction with the Division Summit and P2C2.
