New Web Site
Jim Hermiller, the ACS Akron Section Webmaster, is launching the third version of this web site. He created the first version in August of 1996 as a storage location for electronic images of the Akron ChemLine. The only purpose of the original site was to make the newsletter accessible on the Internet. The second version was created in November of 1997 to make supplementary information available to section members. The newer site presented a more professional image and contained important reference material. Now, this third version is created in October of 1998 and offers a major advancement in the ability of the section to communicate over the Internet. Original information will be presented on a faster cycle than possible with the newsletter, and a foundation will be laid for a new e-mail publication to be unveiled in the future. During the first two years of web site development, functionality began with simple hypertext markup language and hypertext links, continued with tables and image maps, and now presents javascript and other modern features.
